Sporting Group International (SGI), are delighted to announce one of its key players, Anas Edathodika, has joined ISL giants Kerala Blasters.
The Malappuram born defender began his career in the I League with Mumbai before moving to rivals Pune FC in 2011. Following four year spell at Pune, sandwiched between spells at ISL sides Delhi Dynamos and Jamshedpur he enjoyed a prosperous loan spell at Mohun Bagan which saw his performances awarded him the FPAI (Football Players Association of India) Player of the Year Award. Subsequently, a call-up to the full Indian national side was forthcoming.
Family problems blighted much of last season at Jamshedpur, however Edathodika finished the campaign in fine form with, representing his country in the recent Intercontinental Cup triumph.
After much interest at home and abroad, the Indian international has signed a deal with his home state side and is set to become a key player for David James’ side as they look to improve on last season’s league position.
“I’m delighted to be ‘home’,” Edathodika beamed. “Last season was a tough one for me personally, but I’m refreshed and ready to go again. I feel I am now entering my prime and my ambition is to help Kerala to improve on last season’s finish.”
